Miami Beach Approves Millions in GTA 6 Marketing Deal Under Strict Aesthetic Rules
A divided city commission greenlights real-world Vice City promotions ahead of launch, limiting branding to discreet beach gear while dodging countywide ad concepts.

Divided Vote Authorizes Grand Theft Auto VI Beach Campaign
The Miami Beach City Commission voted 4-3 on September 10, 2026, to authorize city management to negotiate a real-world marketing agreement for Grand Theft Auto VI. The measure gives municipal leadership the green light to hammer out final contract terms with promotional agency Amplify Marketing Inc., officially tying the resort city to the blockbuster franchise that heavily satirizes its coastline and culture.
The promotional campaign is slated to kick off on October 15, 2026, and run through December 31, 2026. This timeline puts the branded presence along the beachfront just over a month before the game's scheduled November 19, 2026 release date, keeping the marketing active through the peak holiday tourist season.
Multi-Million Dollar Revenue Tied to Strict Beachfront Restraints
The municipal marketing initiative is projected to yield significant revenue for Miami Beach. Rockstar is expected to pay a baseline sum of at least $3 million for the campaign, while city officials, including Commissioner Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, are actively using ongoing post-vote negotiations to push total municipal proceeds closer to $4 million before final contracts are inked.
Securing those millions came with heavy aesthetic conditions. Municipal leaders flatly rejected loud, sweeping advertisements on public infrastructure, restricting all promotional placements exclusively to private concession equipment operated along the sand by Boucher Brothers. The campaign assets are confined to physical items such as beachfront lounge chairs and sun umbrellas.
Under the terms approved by the commission, the visual artwork cannot display overt character renders, weapons, narcotics, or depictions of illicit activity. Instead, branding must remain minimalist and discreet, centering on stylized franchise markers such as the roman numeral 'VI' and clean text references to 'Vice City.'
Commissioners Push Back as Jurisdictional Boundaries Hold Firm
The razor-thin 4-3 decision followed intense debate inside city chambers over municipal ethics and public image. Dissenting commissioners strongly argued against linking the city's government apparatus and tourist spaces to a game centered on crime, vice, and lawlessness, asserting that the commercial payout was not worth compromising the city's dignity. Local law enforcement leaders also voiced sharp resistance, with Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz publicly speaking out against civic partnerships that promote the Grand Theft Auto brand.
City officials also took care to separate the localized beach agreement from more sweeping, unapproved proposals previously floated across the region. The September 10 authorization applies strictly to the City of Miami Beach municipal footprint and does not authorize countywide Miami-Dade concepts, meaning ideas like Metromover train wraps or airport terminal takeovers remain completely off the table.
