World of Warcraft: Forever Revealed as Blizzard's Official Classic+ Experience
Blizzard delivers a Level 60 Vanilla foundation featuring new zones, nine dungeons, and the Skyborne race ahead of its November launch.

Blizzard Makes the Classic+ Dream Official
During the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony on September 12, Blizzard Entertainment delivered the reveal long-time MMORPG fans have anticipated for years: World of Warcraft: Forever. The project serves as Blizzard's direct realization of the community's "Classic+" concept, taking the foundational world of Vanilla Azeroth and building entirely new content directly on top of it.
Rather than replacing existing branches of the game, World of Warcraft: Forever is positioned as a distinct third pillar within the franchise. It will operate alongside modern retail World of Warcraft and ongoing progression-focused WoW Classic servers, giving players a dedicated space that preserves old-school mechanics while continuously offering brand-new adventures.
WoW: Forever is designed around a level 60 cap, which Blizzard currently intends to maintain for the foreseeable future.
The core design philosophy behind World of Warcraft: Forever centers on horizontal progression rather than standard vertical expansion cycles. The game enforces a level 60 cap, deliberately maintaining the slow-paced, community-driven rules of original Vanilla WoW instead of transitioning players into The Burning Crusade or subsequent historical expansions.
Executive producer Holly Longdale emphasized that WoW: Forever is built as an enduring year-one sandbox. Instead of resetting player gear, invalidating older zones, or inflating numbers every two years, all upcoming challenges and rewards are engineered to fit within the balance and pacing parameters of classic level 60 endgame systems.
New Zones, Dungeons, and the Skyborne Race
Despite retaining original game rules, WoW: Forever brings a substantial wave of fresh content to the map. The release introduces three completely new zones alongside comprehensive overhauls to several classic Vanilla-era regions, opening unexplored pockets across Azeroth.
- Three brand-new open-world zones and overhauls to existing Vanilla regions
- A new playable race: the Skyborne
- Over 1,000 new quests built around Vanilla storytelling and pacing
- Nine new dungeons designed for five-player level 60 groups
- Two brand-new endgame raids tailored to Classic group structures
The addition of over 1,000 quests and multiple instanced encounters gives both leveling adventurers and coordinated raid teams fresh progression paths without altering the deliberate tempo that defined early Warcraft.
Worldwide Launch Date and Testing Details
World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 4, 2026. The relatively short turnaround from its BlizzCon stage debut means players will not have to wait long to jump into the revamped world.
Regarding pre-launch access, World of Warcraft: Forever launches worldwide on November 4, 2026, with its beta beginning September 17. Blizzard has not yet detailed the full beta rollout or broader access requirements in its Opening Ceremony recap.
